Introduction to Tarom
Tarom, Romania's national carrier, became an affiliate member of the SkyTeam Alliance in 2010, offering passengers the benefit of its member network, frequent flyer program and member lounges. The airline serves 11 cities in Romania plus over two dozen more destinations in Europe and the Middle East including Cairo, Tel Aviv, Amman, Beirut, and Dubai. Tarom makes its hub at Bucharest's Henri Coanda International Airport, formerly Optopeni (OTP). The airport was renamed in 2004 to honor Romanian aviation pioneer Henri Marie Coanda who is credited with inventing the aircraft jet engine. The airline offers a handful of regional European flights out of the Romanian cities of Cluj-Napoca and Sibiu.
