London Gatwick Airport (LGW) is based in South East England, with easy links to the capital via rail and road. It is the second busiest airport in the United Kingdom, with two terminals - North and South - serving over 40 million passengers per year. The two terminals are connected via a 0.75 mile long, automated two-way travelator.
It opened as a commercial airport in 1933, with the main airport buildings being constructed during the 1950s. There is currently a planned redevelopment programme which aims to increase the capacity of both terminals. There are a range of on and off site hotels for the convenience of passengers who may have an early morning flight at London Gatwick Airport.
All areas of the airport are accessible to disabled passengers. The airport has facilities for everyone from children through to business class passengers.
