Mantua, Italy
In versatile Lombardy you will find the nice city of Mantua, about 1.5 hours from Venice, Verona or Milan. Real architecture lovers will love this city, as it has some of the most pristine buildings in the country. One of the largest buildings in Italy is actually located in beautiful Mantua. Surrounded by three beautiful lakes, it is the perfect destination for you and your partner! Take a romantic sunset boat trip or enjoy a glass of wine by the water, with just the two of you. The best part? You probably won't have to see that many people.
Vipava Valley, Slovenia
Although Slovenia is becoming more and more popular, Vipava Valley is a destination where you will not encounter many tourists. Explore the little-known valley at a leisurely pace and take it all in. Decorated with beautiful hills, the Vipava Valley is the perfect destination for wine, wine and more wine! There is much to do at the valley; you can cycle through the small villages, go hiking on the mountains, and if you're an adventure junkie, go paragliding over the valley for the best views!
Opal Coast, France
Are you looking for a coastline à la Thailand, but closer? The answer is the Opal Coast in France! In a few hours' drive from Lille, you will find yourself on perhaps one of the most beautiful beaches in Europe (without crowds). The beach isn't the only must-see on this coast, though. You can also visit some of the the small fishing villages, or walk along the rugged cliffs and enjoy the most splendid views. Sometimes, you can even view the coastline of England if there's good visibility. Either way, a relaxed holiday is a guarantee at the Opal Coast!
Lake Komani, Albania
Attention all nature lovers, because this one is for you! If you're a fan of unique hikes, water sports or just beautiful lakes, look no further than Lake Komani! This secret spot in Albania also offers some of the best accommodations, such as staying in a small house by the water. And the best thing: all you will hear is the sound of the rippling water. Just a short drive from Tirana airport, you are in for a real treat at Lake Komani!
Park Skaftafell, Iceland
Iceland has a lot of beautiful waterfalls that are actively visited by tourists. Often it is the Gullfoss, Skogafoss and Seljalandsfoss waterfalls that are extremely popular, but don't worry! The Svartifoss waterfall in Skaftafell National Park is just as magical and less crowded. It wouldn't be a national park if you couldn't have beautiful hikes, discover more nature and spot some animals! It may be a slightly colder destination, but that doesn't make this place any less interesting. From Reykjavik, it is a couple hours drive to this gorgeous park.
Nisyros, Greece
Greece has many busy islands, but Nisyros is surprisingly not crowded by tourists. This island is home to a beautiful volcano that is surrounded by villages with... yes; the typical white-blue houses! Just like the many other Greek islands, Nisyros has extensive sandy beaches and clear blue water, but without the crowds that you normally find on Kos or Santorini. This island is also perfect for your Instagram! Nisyros is very easily accessible from Kos by ferry.
