The Best Lakes in Canada
Canada is the land of Maple Syrup, ice hockey and of course the overwhelmingly beautiful nature! It is also called the "Land of a Thousand Lakes", and rightly so. Here are, in our opinion, the five most beautiful Canadian lakes.
- Moraine Lake, Banff National Park
- Azure Lake, British Columbia
- Berg Lake, Mount Robson Provincial Park
- Peyto Lake, the Rocky Mountains
- Garibaldi Lake, British Columbia
1. Moraine Lake, Banff National Park
This enchanting glacial lake has to be at the top of the list. What a beautiful picture! In winter the entire lake is frozen (which makes it no less beautiful) but the road towards the lake is also closed. If you want to see this beautiful picture with your own eyes, it's best to visit in July. By then the ice has completely thawed and the water is a stunning bright blue. You can also take your canoe on the lake; an unforgettable experience.
2. Azure Lake, British Columbia
Right in the 'Ogilvie Mountains' you will find this gorgeous lake. Azure Lake is not really a lake, but part of the Azure River. In the National Park where this gem is located, you can enjoy breath-taking hikes and make your friends back home jealous with pictures of the best views and panoramas imaginable. You are guaranteed a beautiful experience!
3. Berg Lake, Mount Robson Provincial Park
Caves, waterfalls and glaciers can be found in this Park, next to a beautiful lake of course! There is a reason why it is on the Unesco World Heritage List. The park and lake are easily accessible via the paths, but be warned the hike is an adventure in itself! Take your time and camp in one of the designated places so that you arrive at the lake fully rested and can enjoy it to the full extent.
4. Peyto Lake, the Rocky Mountains
It is said that this is one of the most beautiful lakes in the world, and rightly so! In the summer the lake turns an alluring blue colour as the ice melts. The colour changes for every season, but also the time of day that you visit the lake can affect the colour of the water. How spectacular! Make sure you make the climb to the lookout, it's jaw-dropping.
5. Garibaldi Lake, British Columbia
Right next to Vancouver is the clear blue Garibaldi Lake; a large lake surrounded by amazing nature. Find the height on top of Black Tusk "and you have a wonderful panoramic view! The adventurous may also walked the trail with us!
