MUST VISIT
Munich
Berlin
Dusseldorf
Frankfurt
Hamburg
Cologne
The beer comes in a Mass, a 1 litre mug. But go easy with the beer - the specially brewed Oktoberfestbier is strong with between 7.5-8.5% alcohol.
So, you want to hit on a German girl? There is one trick to check out if she's single: If the bow on her Dirndl is on the right side it means she is taken or married. If she wears it on the left side go for it - she's single!
If you haven't reserved a table in a beer tent a year in advance, avoid weekends unless you want to line up at 6 am to get in. The best time to go is on a week day or late in the evening, just before the tents close around midnight.
Be prepared for German Schlager songs like Das rote Pferd or Fliegerlied. There are a lot of cheering traditions like standing on the bench and singing ein Prosit. You might need a few beers first, but then you'll have no problems getting stuck in!
Check out The official Oktoberfest website, that provides information about all the events, the new Oktoberfest App as well as a lot of information for visitors!
